Wildfire burns 1/2 acre in Chautauqua Park area in Boulder on Easter Sunday

The National Weather Service in Boulder reported a wildfire had started in the Chautauqua Park area in southwest Boulder late Sunday night, according to a post on social media platform X.

About an hour later Sunday night, Boulder Fire Rescue reported they were fighting a wildland fire near the the Enchanted Mesa Trailhead and that the fire was 50% contained.

“The fire is about 1/2 acre in size and forward growth has been stopped,” Boulder Fire Rescue said of their progress containing the fire on X. “Crews expect to be on scene for the next few hours.”

According to NWS Boulder, the agency was monitoring the new wildfire as it started spreading around 9 p.m., Sunday night, which was visible to the northwest of the campus in south Boulder.

“Winds are fortunately relatively light at this time, favoring a light downslope component,” NWS Boulder said.

NWS said Boulder Fire-Rescue and the Boulder ODM are monitoring the fire as well and will provide updates online.
