Is Aspen Snowmass really selling a lift ticket for $3.75?

Skiers and riders looking to ski or ride Aspen in December can check for themselves.

The rumors are true, it’s not a glitch. Aspen Snowmass is selling lift tickets to each of its four mountains for skiing and riding on Monday, Dec. 14 for $3.75; basically 98% off the daily rate.

Aspen Snowmass and Aspen Mountain are set to open on Nov. 26 for the 2026/27 ski season, and Aspen Highlands and Buttermilk are eyeing Dec. 12. This means all four mountains could be open in time to offer some skiing and riding for the insanely discounted price.

The rumor mill spins the notion that the Aspen Skiing Company, owner of the four ski resorts in Pitkin County, is running the deal in celebration of Aspen Mountain turning 80 years old on Dec. 14.

According to an Aspen Sojourner article in 2021 (the year Aspen Mountain celebrated its 75th birthday), Aspen Mountain opened on Dec 14., 1946 with season passes costing $140 ($2,070 in 2021/22) and a day pass was $3.75 ($53 today).

Aspen Snowmass is also offering heavily discounted day lift tickets on Saturday, Dec. 12 and Sunday, Dec. 13 of $80, or approximately 45% off the daily rate.
