When do Colorado ski resorts open for winter 2026/27?

After a recording-breaking low snowfall season in winter 2025/26, Colorado’s ski areas and resorts are hopeful winter 2026/27 will be better.

With a promising strong El Niño still gathering strength in the equatorial Pacific Ocean, the possibility of a wetter and snowier winter could help skiers and riders enjoy winter 2026/27 more than last season.

Colorado ski resort projected opening dates for winter 2026/27:

  • Arapahoe Basin: ASAP in October
  • Keystone: ASAP in October
  • Winter Park: ASAP
  • Wolf Creek: ASAP, weather dependent
  • Loveland: ASAP or early November
  • Breckenridge: Nov. 6
  • Copper Mountain: Nov. 6
  • Vail: Nov. 13
  • Powderhorn: Nov. 20
  • Purgatory Resort: Nov. 20
  • Steamboat: Nov. 21
  • Beaver Creek: Nov. 25
  • Crested Butte: Nov. 25
  • Granby Ranch: Nov. 25
  • Aspen Mountain: Nov. 26
  • Snowmass: Nov. 26
  • Telluride: targeting Nov. 26
  • Howelsen Hill: targeting Nov. 28
  • Echo Mountain: Early- to mid-December
  • Kendall Mountain: Early- to mid-December
  • Monarch: Early- to mid-December
  • Ski Cooper: Dec. 9
  • Sunlight Mountain Resort: Dec. 11
  • Aspen Highlands: Dec. 12
  • Buttermilk: Dec. 12
  • Silverton Mountain: Dec. 31

Opening dates are always weather- and conditions-dependent, and a few resorts are still waiting to set their first day of the season.
