Copper Mountain to host 2 World Cup events for upcoming 2026/27 season

World Cup ski racing and freeskiing is returning to Copper Mountain during the 2026/27 season.

U.S. Ski and Snowboard announced Wednesday, June 17 their line-up of domestic events for the 2026/27 winter season and the Summit County resort received two races.

Copper Mountain will host men’s alpine racing at the Stifel Copper Cup in November, and a freeski and snowboard halfpipe competition at the Toyota U.S. Grand Prix in December.

According to Copper Mountain, the Stifel Copper Cup makes its return over Thanksgiving weekend on Nov. 28-29, featuring men’s Super-G and Giant Slalom events.

“After a hugely successful event in 2025, Copper Mountain is once again excited to host the world’s best at the Athlete’s Mountain,” Copper Mountain said in a statement Wednesday.

Vail, Colorado ski racer River Radamus placed 15th in the men’s Giant Slalom last year, the highest ranking American in the race, and Ryan Cochran-Siegle placed 10th in the men’s Super-G, the highest ranking American in that race.

“This year’s event will include a lively vendor village, concerts and athlete celebrations,” Coppper Mountain said. “Every fall, the resort hosts alpine race training for national teams across the globe. Copper offers the only full-length downhill training venue available in the world during the early season.”

Later in the winter, the Toyota U.S. Grand Prix returns to Copper Mountain on Dec. 19-20 for the highest level of halfpipe competition.

Located in Copper’s Center Village, the Superpipe is the first 22-foot Superpipe available in North America each season, and is expected to be one of four Olympic-sized halfpipes open in the U.S. next year. 

Aspen/Snowmass freeskier Alex Ferreira placed first in the men’s Superpipe last season, scoring a 91.50/100 to beat out fellow American freeskier Hunter Hess.

More details about both events will be released closer to the start of ski and snowboard racing seasons respectively later in 2026.
