It might be late March, but in Colorado’s Front Range foothills, mountain bike racers are thinking about fast descents as mountain bike racing season takes form.
Over the last five years, Colorado’s Session Series mountain bike races – now at three premiere downhill trails just west of Denver – opens its registration for the 2026 races on Wednesday, March 25.
Launched in 2021 by Team Evergreen Cycling – now Shift Events – the Session Series originally put mountain-bike downhillers on a fast descent of The Sluice trail at Floyd Hill Open Space.
The race series grew to include Maryland Mountain outside Blackhawk in June 2023, and Virginia Canyon Mountain Park in Idaho Springs in June 2025.
Dates of the 2026 Session Series:
- Session Series #1 – Drop Shaft trail @ Virginia Canyon Mountain Park in Idaho Springs – August, TBD (due to Mighty Argo Cable Car construction)
- Session Series #2 – Hard Money trail @ Maryland Mountain in Blackhawk – June 3
- Sessions Series #3 – The Sluice trail @ Floyd Hill Open Space in Evergreen – June 17
